Herrmann Poltergeist

The Herrmann Poltergiest began on 3rd February 1958 in a normal "green ranch home" lived in by James Herrmann, his wife Lucille, and their two children - Jimmy (aged 12) and Lucille (aged 13).

It lasted for 5 weeks and was investigated by parapsychologists from Duke University and the police - all of whom were unable to explain satisfactorily what had occured.

The events started with bottles stontaneously popping their caps all over the house, and emptying their contents over the floor. This curious effect happened on further occasions. Further effects included items being damaged, objects flew from their positions and knocking sounds. The Poltergeist was subsequently nicknamed, "Popper".

It is claimed the Steven Speilberg based the film Poltergeist on this case.
